Self-Confidence…As Parents, we recognize confidence when we see it in action. Have you ever wondered what was the best way to teach your child confidence? I know I have.
My name is Matt Randall. As a martial artist, educator, and parent of 6 children, I am on an unstoppable mission to teach confidence to as many kids as possible. A child who is self-confident is easy to spot in a crowd. He or she possesses a bright, engaging smile and a positive attitude. Effortlessly, the child makes friends and accepts leadership opportunities.
Timid and shy children, however, are too often relegated to the side lines. For those children, the problems start small – a child who can’t interact with his or her peers or won’t look an adult in the eye.
But as a child grows, these problems do, too, and before long, this child is the target of bullies, prone to negative peer pressure and withdrawn in the classroom. Kids like this are called “painfully shy” for good reason. A child with self-confidence problems needs to improve his or her self-esteem.
Here are some of the characteristics of a child with low self-esteem:
- Timid or Shy
- Loner, not a Leader
- Bully Magnet
- Fear of Failure
- Susceptible to Negative Peer Pressure
